Staying in bed

My toddler keeps getting out of her new bed — how do I get her to stay put?

We moved our 2.5 year old into a floor bed last week and she pops out twenty times a night.

This phase is completely normal. The most reliable approach is calm, boring consistency: walk her back with as little chat, light and eye contact as possible. Most families see it settle within one to two weeks.

What worked for us was a 'bedtime pass' — one card she could trade for a single cuddle. Once used up, that was it.
